Dr. Mark Williams

Merging Music, Medicine & Ministry

Mark A. Williams,
M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Williams is a board‐certified Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose & Throat – Head & Neck Surgeon) who practices in Nashville, TN where he opened his surgical practice, Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists of Nashville. He also founded the Voice Care Center of Nashville, where he specializes in treating and preventing voice problems in Christian and Gospel music artists. As an award-winning Gospel recording artist and songwriter himself, Dr. Williams has a keen insight to not only the medical and surgical implications of voice disturbances, but also the many spiritual impacts.

Dr. Williams obtained his medical doctorate (M.D.) and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Cell Biophysics, from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and was the second African American to graduate from the Physician-Scientist Training Program.

In addition to being a surgeon, scientist, singer and songwriter,  Williams is a dynamic motivational and keynote speaker. Having served as a worship leader at various churches since 1998, Williams is passionate about conducting seminars about voice care, worship and the use of the voice in worship. In 2020, he added author to his list of talents when he published his first book, When A Man Worships (a compendium to his same-titled music CD).

Weekly, Dr. Williams co-hosts a podcast with Attorney Sonya Madison – the RoundTable Consult. Together they discuss current social topics from a medical, legal, spiritual and political perspective. These varied interests and a prophetic mandate inspired the writing of his second book, DECEIVED! The Poisoned Fruit Of Evangelicalism, slated for release on October 1, 2024.

More About Mark

Dr. Mark, as he’s affectionately called by friends and colleagues, is the ninth of ten sons born to his parents, Charles and Mary Williams. In the ninth grade,  he met the woman he prophesied at that time would eventually become his wife, Darice. In 1993 they married and to date, they remain blissfully wed. Together they have the children,  Demarcus, Aaron and Courtney.

Williams is first and foremost the priest of his home and without reservation will sacrifice everything for his family. “Lord knows my commitment to my family and that I would not do anything to compromise the health of my family,” he explains. “God is not glorified if I leave my first ministry poorly attended to for the sake of ministry outside the home to strangers.”

If his plate weren’t full enough,  Williams is also a real estate investor and enjoys sharing his knowledge about this wealth-building endeavor.  Dr. Mark Williams embodies the notion that healing and health requires much more than medicine.  In every endeavor he exemplifies this pursuit.
