Born in Michigan, Carol served in the U.S. Women’s Army, with assignments in California and France. She spent the next chapter of her life with Eastern Airlines, working in Chicago and Miami for twenty-two years. When the airline closed, she moved into office roles as varied as a private investigator’s firm and a church, collecting textures of everyday life—grit, humor, kindness—that later shaped her fiction.
Her first book, A Deadly Renovation, appeared in April 2019. That same spring brought profound personal loss with the death of her husband, David F. Hanson. Writing became both refuge and resolve, and her stories since have carried that imprint: ordinary people choosing bravery, neighbors showing up, and love that outlasts the storm.
Today Carol makes her home in Florida with a pack of “thrown-away” dogs who are anything but. When she isn’t drafting a perilous escape or a slow-burn romance, she’s reading history, tracking down odd details (what did a Newgate cell smell like?), and planning the next journey for characters who refuse to leave her alone.
